Despite the devastation of the Los Angeles wildfires last year, the total area burned nationwide in 2025 was only about two-thirds of the 10-year average. Unfortunately, due to sweeping drought, minimal snowpack, and the Trump administration's overhaul of our federal wildfire management system, 2026 is shaping up to be much worse.
