California Legacy Partnership
Give Farmers Options. Reduce barriers. Lower Energy Costs for California Families.
Water shortages and restrictions  are pushing farmland out of production across the Central Valley, leaving farmers without a way to earn a living from that land. At the same time, families across California are paying more for power that isn't always there when they need it.

AB 1156 (Wicks) gives farmers an option: transition water-constrained  land — ground that has no future in agriculture — into local solar projects to harvest the sun. That means a new source of income for farmers, economic stability for changing rural communities and affordable, reliable power for everyone else.

AB 1156 will:

  • Lower energy costs for families
  • Provide a lifeline to farmers with an alternative source of revenue
  • Reduce barriers to renewable energy development
  • Create jobs
  • Maintain local control and oversight by maintaining local permitting frameworks
  • Make the grid safer, cleaner, and more reliable by bringing more solar energy online

It's a win for farmers and families alike.

📢 Tell your lawmakers: Support AB 1156. Give farmers options and Californians more affordable, reliable power.
