Please take a quick minute to help us advance legislation with the potential to streamline permitting in designated “Coastal Zones”, otherwise effectively blocked by the California Coastal Commission.
AB 1740 (Zbur) allows certain coastal cities to adopt a designation that would exempt various projects from having to obtain coastal commission permits.
This includes projects such as expanded outdoor dining and tenant improvements.
As many of you know, acquiring coastal commission permits can be a complicated, costly, and lengthy process that can stand in the way of achieving a vision and providing guests with a desirable experience.
AB 1740 modernizes the policy approach to regulating certain land uses along the coast and eliminates regulatory hurdles, all the while maintaining adequate coastal access, improving local flexibility, and reducing permitting delays and costs for restaurants.
Even if your restaurant is not located in a coastal zone, we urge you to use the tool attached and send a note to your Assembly Member supporting this measure aimed at common-sense permit reform.
Thank you,
