The CRA
Oppose Food Safety & Labor Double Standards!
Dear Restaurant Friends,

On Tuesday, July 14th, the Fresno County Board of Supervisors will meet to vote on Agenda Item #44, a Microenterprise Home Kitchen Ordinance pilot (MEHKO), allowing up to 66 home kitchens to operate without proper food, safety, and planning considerations.

The Board will be meeting at the Hall of Records, Room 301, at 2281 Tulare Street in Fresno, California, at 9:30 am.

We urge able members to attend the hearing, ask for Agenda Item #44 to be pulled off the consent agenda, and to speak out in opposition to the MEHKO pilot – and the double standard that it sets.

If you can attend, you can specifically ask the Board of Supervisors:

  1. Whether labor enforcement will be able to enter MEHKO operations, as they do with other businesses?
  2. How will MEHKOs dispose of grease and other hazardous waste?
  3. How will the county ensure that sales and food delivery restrictions are followed?

Please also take a moment and use the link attached to submit a comment to your County Supervisor, opposing the MEHKO pilot program until hazardous waste, labor practices, and food safety concerns are addressed.

Thank you,
CRA Government Affairs
