We urgently need your help beating back a proposal that would raise the minimum wage in Alameda County to a staggering $30.

What’s Going on?

The Alameda County Board of Supervisors will consider the next steps regarding this proposal on Tuesday, September 15th at 3 pm. 

With your help, our coalition got the County to conduct a 30-day economic impact study of the proposal — evaluating the impact on local businesses, workers, and the community at large. This study revealed a shocking minimum cost to the County of  $32 million, should the proposal be adopted. 

This now leaves two potential paths forward:

Place on the Ballot: The Board chooses to place the measure on the ballot for a vote in December of this year, or in 2028.

Board Adoption: The Board chooses to adopt the initiative.

Ultimately, voters should have time to be properly educated and decide whether or not they want to increase the minimum wage — and absorb the higher cost of living that has been proven to come with it. Not only that, but if the County decides to put it on the ballot for a December special election, it'll come with a $10 million price tag for taxpayers.

Please use the tool attached and join us in sending a letter to your supervisor, urging them to let the voters decide for themselves — in 2028 — whether to allow an unprecedented increase in Alameda County’s minimum wage.
