While we were in Sacramento advocating last week, we discovered a disturbing fact.
Thanks to your advocacy in 2024, Proposition 35 passed with nearly 68% voter approval, increasing access to care for Medi-Cal patients and raising Medi-Cal provider payments through a protected funding stream. However, Governor Newsom is now attempting to divert these voter-approved funds. In his May revised budget, he seeks to redirect significant funding from Prop 35 to address the state’s budget shortfall.
With potential federal Medicaid cuts on the horizon and 15 million Californians depending on Medi-Cal, this budget decision endangers access to care across the state and targets our most vulnerable communities. Moreover, it contradicts the will of California voters.
We need your help!
Please send a letter to your State Assemblymember and Senator urging them to reject the Governor's budget proposal that diverts funds from Proposition 35. It's more important than ever to safeguard Medicaid and access to care!
