URGENT: SB 2224, recently introduced in the Tennessee State Senate, and HB 2530 in the House of Representatives, proposes to remove existing regulations governing the interior design profession and would effectively deregulate the profession of interior design in the state of Tennessee. Such a proposal could have terribly negative consequences on public safety, small businesses, the construction industry, and all those who enter public spaces.

According to legislative staff, this bill originated from the Governor's administration as part of a broader effort to streamline regulatory programs, and was introduced by the Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson, so it stands a very good chance of passing into law.

If passed, this bill would have far-reaching consequences for public safety, the economy, and the profession. We urge you to contact your Senators to voice your opposition to SB 2224, and ask them to oppose the deregulation of interior design!
