Delaware farmers are facing real challenges, from high input costs for fuel and fertilizer to tight margins and ongoing uncertainty in markets and weather. These pressures are being felt across our state, from poultry operations in Sussex County to grain and specialty crop farms in Kent and New Castle. Without an updated farm bill, many of these family farms will continue to struggle to stay viable.
The bipartisan
Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 delivers the tools farmers need to keep going. It strengthens risk management programs, supports conservation efforts that protect our soil and water, expands market opportunities, and invests in research and Extension programs that directly benefit Delaware agriculture. It also improves access to credit and support for the next generation of farmers, which is critical to the future of our state’s farming community.
This is about more than policy, it’s about making sure Delaware farmers can continue producing safe, affordable food while supporting our rural communities and local economy. Congress needs to hear from you.
