These tax credits have lowered monthly premiums, expanded access to care, and brought the uninsured rate in the U.S. to an all-time low. Families have been able to see doctors, afford medications, and get preventive care without the crushing fear of medical debt.
Now, that progress—and those lives—are at risk.
If Congress fails to act, these enhanced tax credits will expire on December 31, 2025, sending premiums skyrocketing for millions and stripping coverage away from countless others. Communities of color, rural families, and people already struggling to make ends meet will be hit hardest.
As physicians, medical trainees, and health advocates, we know what’s at stake. We see the human cost when patients delay care, ration prescriptions, or go without insurance altogether. This is our moment to speak out.
The next few weeks are critical. Lawmakers must hear from the people who see the impact of these policies every day—you.
