Current Funding Falls Short
Currently, Pennsylvania allocates just $576,315 for epilepsy services statewide, dividing the funds by county rather than by the number of people served. As a result, the Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania receives only 38% of this funding—about $219,000 annually—even though it serves 57% of the PA population living with epilepsy. This inequity must be addressed to ensure fair and adequate support for the communities most in need.
The Goal
Increase total epilepsy funding to $750,000 and enable EFEPA to receive their fair share to match the population it serves - equaling about $427,500.
Why it Matters?
The EFEPA has programs that are vital to fighting mental health issues and social isolation. The EFEPA had to recently cancel the Adult Wellness Weekend 2025 due to financial limitations. With additional funds, the EFEPA would continue these social and mental health programs that impact so many people. Funding also supports additional services provided by the EFEPA, like seizure recognition, first aid training, support groups, and more.
How Can YOU Help?
