Ask Congress to Reauthorize Tax Credits That Make Health Coverage Affordable!
Individuals who do not receive health insurance coverage through their employer and do not qualify for Medicaid or Medicare can purchase health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplaces. Tax credits can help make ACA Marketplace coverage more affordable. These tax credits are based on each consumer’s estimated annual income, family size, and state of residence.

Several years ago, Congress provided additional subsidies to those who were already eligible for tax credits and expanded access to these enhanced tax credits - known as enhanced Advance Premium Tax Credits (eAPTCS) - to middle-income consumers to help further reduce the cost of buying health insurance through the Marketplace.

However, these enhanced tax credits will expire at the end of 2025, unless Congress acts to extend them.

If Congress doesn’t act soon, millions of hard-working Americans will see their health insurance premiums increase. On average, premiums will nearly double, and millions of people will have to choose between paying for essentials like rent, food, and utilities and continuing their health insurance coverage.

Now is the time to continue putting pressure on Congress. The Epilepsy Foundation of America has joined 35 other health advocacy and patient organizations across the country with one clear message: extend health care tax credits! Please take action TODAY and join this important effort in asking Congress to reauthorize the enhanced tax credits to keep health coverage affordable for the millions of Americans who depend on it, including people with epilepsy and their family members.

Here are two ways you can quickly take action through our system to make a difference:

  1. MESSAGE your members of Congress using a pre-written message that you can edit, which we strongly encourage!
  2. CALL your members of Congress using a script that has already been provided!

All of these actions take just a few minutes but can have a HUGE impact! Can we count on you?

To take action, enter your information to be matched to your elected officials. The first time you take action in VoterVoice, the system will send a verification code to your email. This is to ensure your personal information is safe and secure and can only be modified by you. After the first time, you should rarely encounter verification codes. You will then see the message and be able to add your own story. We strongly encourage you to share your own personal experience as a member of the epilepsy community. More personalized comments will have a significantly greater impact.
