Emergency Nurses Association

Tell Your Senators to Act to Prevent Workplace Violence!
During the pandemic, workplace violence against emergency nurses is as bad as it has ever been.

  • In July 2021, one survey showed 31 percent of registered nurses in hospitals reported an increase in violence during the pandemic.

But the risk was growing long before COVID-19.

  • From 2011-2018, nonfatal workplace violence against health care workers increased 63 percent.
  • In 2018, serious workplace violence was six-times more common for hospital workers.

The Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act, S. 4182, would require health care and social service employers to develop and implement workplace violence prevention plans. This bill passed the House in May 2021 with bipartisan support, and now we need the Senate to act!

Contact your senators today and urge them to cosponsor and support S. 4182, the Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act.
