Military Spouse Hiring Act (HR 1277/S. 596)
The FRA supports the “Military Spouse Hiring Act” (H.R. 2033 / S. 1027). The legislation addresses the high military spouse unemployment rate by establishing a tax credit to incentivize more employers to hire military spouses. While the national unemployment rate is at 4.2 percent, the unemployment rate for military spouses has remained at or over 20 percent for several years.

The legislation creates a new target group for military spouses within the existing Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) program. Many military families rely on two incomes to make ends meet. It is challenging for military spouses to find jobs through moves and other transitions. Please ask your legislators to support this legislation.
