Free the Grapes

Utah: Help us Free the Grapes!
Dear Wine Lovers of Utah,

You may know that Utah is one of only three states with an archaic ban on consumers’ ability to have wine shipped directly from wineries to their homes or offices.

In fact, Utah is the ONLY state in which an adult can be charged with a felony for having wine shipped directly from an American winery to him or her. This must change!

Legislation has been introduced in the past but every attempt at winery-to-consumer direct shipping has failed to pass the Utah State Legislature. However, we are not giving up!

We believe that consumers like you should have the freedom to determine which wines you can enjoy and how you purchase them. Model winery direct shipping legislation is working successfully in almost all states, representing 98% of the population. These laws provide additional state tax revenues, satisfy consumer demand, and meet regulatory requirements in a dynamic marketplace.

To allow consumers like you to order directly from a winery, we need your help. Please contact your state legislators today and urge them to support positive legislation that allows freedom for consumers as well as strong regulatory security and a financial windfall for the State of Utah.

  3. Forward this Message to Your Friends and Colleagues: Legislators really do listen to consumers and we need wine lovers to speak up.

Together with you, we hope to support a bill to replace Utah’s outdated ban on winery-to-consumer direct shipments, and to expand consumer choice for you.

Thank you for your support!
