IL: Urge Your Lawmakers to Address VA Funding for Home Care
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) released its 2025 VA fee schedule, which took effect on January 1, 2025. While some areas of the state saw slight increases, many rural areas in Illinois are shouldering significant rate reductions that will dramatically impact access to care for veterans. These rate reductions come at a time when healthcare costs are continuing to skyrocket and an escalating workforce shortage is already constraining access to care. At these rates, providers will be forced to limit or altogether cease providing care to veterans in these areas of the state.

  • The Home Care Association of America's Veterans Affairs Advisory Council previously submitted a report to VA leadership about the unsustainability of these rate reductions in Illinois, among other states, and are continuing to communicate with the VA about the importance of supporting VA home care.
  • We encourage providers to regularly check the VA fee schedule, as the VA made changes to 2025 rates in other states (Iowa and Ohio) without directly notifying providers.
  • In the meantime, we need your action to raise awareness of the need for increased funding for VA home care services in Illinois!

Take Action: Tell your Members of Congress Urge to support veterans in Illinois by urging the VA to adjust the 2025 rates for VA home care! Please feel free to share this action alert with your colleagues, family, and communities and encourage them to take action.
