The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), is charged with examining religious freedom violations and making recommendations to the President, Secretary of State, and Congress. Its mission is to advance international freedom of religion or belief by independently assessing and confronting threats to this fundamental right.
Each year, USCIRF publishes an annual report that provides country-level analysis and recommendations to the State Department on possible policy actions to advance religious freedom around the world. Through its work, USCIRF has routinely stood up for humanist, nontheist, and secularist individuals under threat.
Congress will consider whether to approve the continuation of this important commission. The bill (H.R. 1744) simply reauthorizes USCIRF through 2028. You may read the bill here.
Take just one moment to reach out to your elected officials today to urge them to reauthorize USCIRF.
