We need access to abortion services - no matter our income, employer, or location.
For decades, a legislative provision called ‘the Hyde Amendment’ has deprived individuals needing abortion services and using federal health insurance of critical insurance coverage. The Hyde Amendment severely restricts abortion access for anyone who relies on Medicaid and Medicare, but also federal employees and their dependents, Peace Corps volunteers, Indigenous people who rely on Indian Health Services for their care, incarcerated people, military personnel and their families, low income individuals, and many others.
Everyone - including individuals enrolled in federal health insurance plans - should have access to abortion care services and coverage without impediment from the federal government.
The Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance (EACH) Act would eliminate the Hyde Amendment and require federal health insurance plans to cover abortion services and ensure abortion services are available to those enrolled. The bill also prohibits the federal government from imposing restrictions on the coverage of abortion services by state and private insurance.
Everyone should have access to the abortion services they need. Tell Congress to support and cosponsor the EACH Act.
