Millions of girls and women look forward to playing sports with their teammates in school every year. Unfortunately, lawmakers in Congress are making it a priority to ensure that doesn’t happen.
The majority in the House of Representatives has passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, and it now goes to the Senate. This misleadingly-named and discriminatory bill would make it a violation under Title IX schools to allow transgender girls and women to participate in such programs in accordance with their gender identities.
Banning trans girls and women from sports deprives them of social and physical health benefits, and hinders important development of collaboration and teambuilding skills that all young people should have access to. This bill is unnecessary, exclusionary, and invasive, and does nothing to empower women and girls.
Take just two minutes now to tell your Senators to strongly oppose the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act.
