Policymaking should follow science — not the fearmongers who want to end all access to safe and legal abortion.
The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act does the opposite: it states that health care providers must provide medical care in the case of an abortion or attempted abortion where a child is “born alive,” and establishes penalties for failing to do so.
But here’s the thing: this legislation is completely unnecessary and void of an understanding of evidence-based medicine, because there is no such thing as a child “born alive” from an abortion. The language in the bill is deliberately framed to be misleading, and will only serve to intimidate health care professionals with criminalization for administering abortions – which are safe and effective.
This bill is not based in science, fact, or reason, yet the majority in the House were sure to make this legislation a top priority, and passed this bill back in January. Take just two minutes to tell your Senators to reject the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act.
