Oppose Michigan Click-to-Cancel Bill HB 4843
The Michigan House of Representatives is considering a bill - HB 4843 - that would broadly regulate the types of membership renewal agreements typically used by health clubs and studios. In particular, the bill includes a "click to cancel" provision that would mandate that any agreement entered into online must be cancelable online.

Meanwhile, IHRSA is already engaged with the Biden Administration over its proposed "click to cancel" rule, which is currently under consideration by the Federal Trade Commission.

Accordingly, IHRSA is urging the Michigan House to withhold action on HB 4843 to prevent the creation of a redundant, confusing and unworkable matrix of laws governing membership renewal agreements from the federal and state levels.
