As the 2026 Iowa Legislative Session kicks off Monday, January 12, the Iowa Medical Society encourages members to contact their state lawmakers. Reaching out at the beginning of session keeps physician issues top of mind and allows you as a physician-constituent to be a resource as health care proposals arise.

IMS expects an active session and will advocate every day to make Iowa a premier place for physicians to practice. We need lawmakers to know how low reimbursement and administrative burdens from insurance companies impact the physician workforce.

Your grassroots support is critical. We saw many wins last session; however, imagine a scenario in which doctors are not represented at the statehouse, and rather, insurance companies, the pharmaceutical industry and trial lawyers set health care policy. It’s a frightening thought that could very well unfold, without your support as an IMS member.
