The House Ways and Means Committee plans to advance a bill making the temporary federal test and treat authorities granted to pharmacists that saved millions of lives and billions of dollars during the pandemic permanent! We need your help to get the Equitable Community Access to Pharmacist Services (ECAPS) Act across the finish line this year!
The ECAPS Act would ensure patients have optimal access to essential services by paying pharmacists under Medicare Part B. In Kentucky, this would include payment to pharmacists providing testing and treatment services for COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and/or strep throat under Board-authorized protocols or collaborative practice agreements.
ECAPS has the enthusiastic support of all the national and 50 state pharmacy and pharmacist associations. We are asking KPhA members to take action today by asking your Members of Congress to include the updated ECAPS language in the reconciliation package to become law this year. Thank you for taking action to help improve the health of all Kentuckians by advancing pharmacy practice.
