We Do NOT Need To Make the Insurance Commissioner Appointed By the Governor
The VOTERS of Louisiana should be responsible for ELECTING the Louisiana Commissioner of Insurance. Leftist Democrat Senator Royce Duplessis' SB 214 would allow the Governor to appoint the Commissioner.  The LAST thing we need in Louisiana is to give the Governor- ANY Governor- more power.  The balance of power in Louisiana already heavily favors the Governor, which is a big part of the reason why Louisiana is as dysfunctional as it is.   We should be DECREASING the power of the executive branch, not increasing it.  Further, there is no reason why the Commissioner of Insurance or any other statewide official should not be directly elected by the people of our State. This is a BAD Bill that should be defeated.
