Focus On
April is National Minority Health Month!

Do you know a physician who is making great strides in advancing health equity? Let us know... Email publicaffairs@lsms.org.
We will profile members who are making a difference in minority health this month!
The US has become increasingly diverse in the last century. According to the 2010 US Census, approximately 36 percent of the population belongs to a racial or ethnic minority group. Though health indicators such as life expectancy and infant mortality have improved for most Americans, some minorities experience a disproportionate burden of preventable disease, death, and disability compared with non-minorities. The CDC and HHS mark National Minority Health Awareness month by raising awareness about the health disparities that continue to affect minority populations.
