Be it through prolonged lockdowns, restrictive social distancing measures, or overtly intrusive government intervention in everyday life, the past year has taken its toll on everybody.
But perhaps no population has struggled more from the harmful effects of the Canadian government’s response to the pandemic than our children and students.
And now, the unsettling prospect that, politicians in Ontario are laying the groundwork for a potential COVID vaccination requirement for students for in-person schooling, presents a new threat to families' individual freedoms.
But make no mistake: If this misguided initiative advances in Ontario, politicians from other provinces may well seek to follow in their footsteps.
That’s why we must be proactive, and contact all Canadian politicians – at both the provincial and federal level – and let them know that we oppose any and all efforts to force our children to get the Coronavirus jab as a condition to go to school, especially if their parents and families object to doing so.You can contact your MPPs and MPs in one easy step using this simple contact form that LifeSiteNews.com is making available here, on the Voter Voice platform. With one click, your message is sent directly to your representatives without having to look up any of their contact details.
Just last week, Ontario’s Education Minister, Stephen Lecce, went on record calling for Trudeau’s Liberal federal government to prioritize “forward planning” in terms of getting children and students in Ontario and across Canada vaccinated.
In his open letter to members of Trudeau’s cabinet, Lecce referenced that while “clinical trials” to test the effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccine on children are ongoing (an immediate red flag, as no child should ever be forced to undergo a largely experimental medical procedure), it is still necessary to “plan immediately so that Canada is the leader on vaccine roll-out.”
In fact, the University of Oxford in England has just suspended an AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine trial on children and teenagers due to a possible link to rare blood clots that have already been observed in adults, making it clearer than ever that we truly don't yet know how the vaccine can negatively affect the health of people (including students).
While no set-in-stone plan to require vaccines for in-person schooling has been confirmed, Canada has still begun the process of weighing the feasibility of vaccine passports, and Lecce’s insistence that vaccines be readily available to children and students, specifically, as soon as possible raises a similar eyebrow.
The federal government is already entertaining taking action to coerce Canadians to be vaccinated as a condition to resume everyday life. We must prevent them and our provincial governments from taking similar action with respect to our youth.
Underage children should never be subject to the will of politicians over that of their families, and enough personal, emotional, and educational damage has been already done to students throughout 2020 and the early months of 2021.
Adding yet another blockade on the already long and difficult road of in-person education could ultimately prove detrimental to their growth and development, and we must stand against every attempt to remove their parents’ ability to make the medical decisions they deem most appropriate for their own children. Please take a few minutes to contact your federal and provincial representatives and request that they defend medical freedom and stand their ground against mandatory vaccinations as a condition for our children to go to school in person.
No Canadian child whose family would prefer opting out of vaccinating their child, be it due to moral, medical, or religious reasons, should be prohibited from going to school by politicians simply because they disagree with their reasoning. That’s why we must take a proactive approach, and let our MPPs and MPs know that we oppose any and all future efforts to implement a vaccine requirement in order for our children here in Ontario – and across Canada – to continue in-person learning.
