Programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) are essential lifelines for people with disabilities, children, families, and older adults. Without renewed funding, millions will struggle to access basic nutrition - especially as the cold months and holidays approach.
What’s at Stake
SNAP provides food for about 42 million people - including 16 million children, 8 million older adults, and more than 4 million people with disabilities. WIC supports nearly 7 million pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and young children. Even brief interruptions can impact child nutrition and development. Proposed cuts to Medicaid and other key programs continue to threaten access to health care and community support that individuals with disabilities depend on. For many families in our community, these programs are not extras - they are vital supports that ensure health, nutrition, and stability.
