It happens every four years, and it seems like every four years there are more ads, mailers, and fundraising requests!
Luckily, it’s almost over. Tuesday is election day and early voting has already ended. So, if you haven’t gotten to the polls or sent in your mail-in ballot, the deadline is quickly approaching. You can find your voting locations here and check here for ballot drop-off boxes.
While we are not electing state officials this year, we do have a number of federal and local officials, as well as state and local initiatives, on the ballot.
At the top of the ticket is the election for president between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. We also have several open congressional seats, as well as many races featuring incumbents, and important school board races and local initiatives on the ballot.
Here are the congressional races:
Senate: Angela Alsobrooks and Larry Hogan (open seat, currently held by Ben Cardin)
1st District : Andy Harris (incumbent) and Blane Miller, III
2nd District: Johnny Olszewski and Kim Klacik (open seat, currently held by Dutch Ruppersberger)
3rd District: Sarah Elfreth and Robert Steinberger (open seat, currently held by John Sarbanes)
4th District: Glenn Ivey (incumbent) and George McDermott
5th District: Steny Hoyer (incumbent) and Michelle Talkington
6th District: April McClain Delaney and Neil Parrott (open seat, currently held by David Trone)
7th District: Kweisi Mfume (incumbent) and Scott Collier
8th District: Jamie Raskin (incumbent) and Cheryl Riley
According to the Baltimore Banner, “All told, between early votes and returned mail ballots, more than 1.56 million of the state’s 4.2 million voters have already voted, for a turnout of 37%.”
If you are part of the 63 percent who haven’t voted yet, please get out and exercise your constitutional responsibility, and VOTE!
