Specifically, the bill would allow the operator of a two-wheeled motorcycle to travel between two marked lanes of same-direction traffic when surrounding vehicles are stopped or moving at 15 mph or less. The motorcyclist may not exceed surrounding traffic speed by more than 10 mph while lane filtering, and the maneuver is only permitted on roadways with two or more lanes of travel in the same direction where the posted speed limit is 45 mph or less. The bill also prohibits other drivers from purposely impeding or interfering with a motorcyclist who is lawfully lane filtering, a violation of which is punishable as a minor misdemeanor.
