NASP is proud to endorse the Keep Public Funds in Public Schools Act, legislation that would repeal the federal tax credit private school voucher program passed last July. This uncapped dollar-for-dollar tax credit could divert as much as $50 billion in taxpayer funds to private schools, which do not serve all students and families or uphold their civil rights. NASP is deeply concerned about the short- and long-term harm this unprecedented federal tax credit will cause our public education system once it goes into effect in 2027.
We are urging all members of Congress to co-sponsor and support the Keep Public Funds in Public Schools Act of 2026 to ensure taxpayer dollars are invested in strengthening our public schools, not funneled out of them. Public schools educate 90% of students and are accountable to families, communities, and taxpayers. They are the backbone of our communities. Private school voucher programs undermine our public schools, are not shown to improve student outcomes, and do not uphold students' and families' civil and educational rights—including their rights under IDEA.
Send a letter directly to your Members of Congress urging them to cosponsor the Keep Public Funds in Public Schools Act and protect public education funding!
