NASW-NY has consistently emphasized that attacks on immigrant protections undermine public safety, erode trust in community institutions, and put immigrant lives at risk, and that sanctuary policies exist to uphold safety and justice for all New Yorkers regardless of immigration status. The New York for All Act advances these goals by government entanglement with federal civil immigration enforcement, including by restricting collusion with ICE, limiting the disclosure of sensitive information, and preventing the diversion of personnel or other resources into federal immigration enforcement.
NASW-NY is urging members to complete an Act Now message to their State Senator and Assembly Member.
This Act Now asks lawmakers to co-sponsor (if they have not already), support, and advance S.2235/A.3506 this session, so that immigrant New Yorkers can access schools, hospitals, and other essential services and engage with public institutions without fear, while New York’s state and local resources remain focused on community priorities rather than being redirected into federal civil immigration enforcement.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to act and for helping NASW-NY protect safety, dignity, and trust across New York’s communities.
