Restrictions on Payday Lending
Bill # H5042: Restrictions on Payday Lending

Predatory payday loans are harmful and threaten the economic security of low-income communities. These loans enforce a vicious cycle of dependency and can contribute to mental health and physical health issues such as depression, anxiety, and homelessness. By imposing an interest cap of 36%, Rhode Island can progress towards ending systematic racism and the racial wealth gap.
