The Athletic Trainer Interstate Licensure Compact makes it easier for athletic trainers to do their job, especially those who work near state lines, relocate, or support teams that travel. The compact allows qualified athletic trainers to practice in participating states while preserving state authority over licensure and regulation.
This approach improves continuity of care, strengthens emergency and public health response, and removes unnecessary licensure barriers—particularly for professionals who move frequently. Participation is limited to athletic trainers who meet uniform eligibility requirements, hold an unencumbered license, and comply with all member-state laws.
