A.5434/S.3781 has passed both houses of the legislature, and will soon be sent to Governor Hochul for signature.
The bill requires OCFS to provide luggage to youth in foster care, to support their dignified transition between homes. It also requires an annual report about the distribution of luggage to youth in foster care.
NYS PTA strongly supports this bill, and the approximately 13,000 New York State youth in foster care. We thank the legislature for passing this important initiative, and supporting dignified transfers within the foster care system for children and youth. Once the bill has been sent to Governor Hochul, we look to her for a swift signature, and enactment.
