Senate Considers Online Sports Betting
The casino bill has been sidelined for the year, but the Senate held a subcommittee hearing on Wednesday, February 18, to consider the legalization of online sports betting in South Carolina (S. 444) . While no vote was taken at that meeting, It's important that you contact your legislator today to let them know you oppose the bill.

Online sports betting has been highlighted in the news lately because of its addictive nature and the various scandals involving several athletes, both college and professional, whose play is influenced by their gambling or that of those close to them.

The Wall Street Journal, CBS This Morning, and 60 Minutes have all produced stories about the problems of sports betting and its particular impact on young men. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine recently said signing the online gambling bill was one of his biggest mistakes during his seven years as Governor.

South Carolina doesn't need to open the floodgates of online sports betting wide open. Be sure to contact your state legislator and tell them to vote "no" on online gambling (S. 444/H. 3625).
