Support Medical Students and Residents in Loan Repayment and Deferment
The U.S. House of Representatives' Education and Workforce Committee considered the Student Success and Taxpayer Savings Plan on Tuesday, April 29th, and voted to approve the bill. If this legislation is added to the budget reconciliation package, it would place limits on the amount of federal loans available through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program and eliminate the Graduate PLUS loan program.

SIR is asking you to contact your members of Congress to oppose cuts to programs that help our IR residents and medical students. We are asking that Congress support the Resident Education Deferred Interest Act (REDI Act) S. 942/H.R. 2028, legislation that provides interest-free deferment on student loans for borrowers serving in a medical residency program.

Please act now and contact your Member of Congress and ask that they oppose cuts and limitations on medical student loan repayment programs and support the REDI Act, the future physician workforce, and the patients and communities they serve.
