Alarmingly, 2021 has seen more abortion bans and restrictions enacted by state legislatures than in any year since Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973. These restrictions threaten to exacerbate the nation’s ongoing maternal morbidity and mortality crisis by limiting access to safe, necessary, and sometimes life-saving abortion care. The implementation of Texas' 6-week abortion ban has signaled to Congress that they must act to protect access to abortion care and make it a statutory right.
To defend against harmful state restrictions, the Senate must now pass legislation passed by the House of Representatives protecting access to abortion care no matter where one lives. Tell your Senator to support and pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA)!
