Vote 'NO' for ICE Funding
We are saddened by the violence and excessive force used in Minneapolis that resulted in the deaths of two U.S. citizens - Renee Good and Alex Pretti – at the hands of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol agents, respectively. We decry the U.S. Administration elevating the offense of illegal entry to the United States – a misdemeanor for first-time offenders – as an urgent situation that calls for large numbers of armed personnel in our cities.

We appreciate and support the moral voice of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) in their January 26, 2026, statement that says choosing nonviolence is how we witness to the Gospel. The School Sisters of Notre Dame are faithful to the Gospel and will continue to educate, act, and advocate for a just society.

We stand in solidarity with our immigrant siblings and with fellow Americans who peacefully protest the unjust actions of ICE and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Please use the email template or phone script provided to contact your U.S. representatives immediately to say ‘NO’ to renewing ICE funding in the appropriations bill to be voted on this week. A vote in the Senate is likely to occur on 1/28 or 1/29.

Thank you for your advocacy and your prayers for immigration enforcement reform.
