Protect Access to Health Insurance for Breast Cancer Patients and Survivors
Susan G. Komen’s Center for Public Policy believes that the breast cancer community needs high-quality, affordable health insurance to access vital screening, diagnosis and treatments services. In 2025, enrollment in health insurance was at a record high, with more than 24 million Americans enrolled in insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplaces. Unfortunately, despite health care affordability being at the center of the longest government shutdown in history, millions of Americans are facing skyrocketing costs and could lose their coverage.

ACA Marketplace enrollment increases have been driven in part by financial assistance through tax credits that provide relief for working families but this is in jeopardy. If Congress fails to act, these enhanced tax credits will expire in just a few short weeks, jeopardizing access to coverage and increasing costs for many breast cancer patients and survivors. With estimates suggesting as many as 4.2 million people could lose their health insurance, Congress must act now to ensure people can afford their health insurance.

Open enrollment for 2026 plans has already started; Americans can’t afford to wait any longer for Congress to act! Join us in urging Congress to prevent millions from losing access to health insurance coverage.
