Susan G. Komen’s Center for Public Policy is thrilled to announce we will be hosting an in-person State Advocacy Forum and Day of Action From Feburary 9 - 10, 2026 in Des Moines, IA. This event will provide participants with an opportunity to come together as one voice for those impacted by breast cancer. This interactive event will provide participants the opportunity to learn more about Komen’s policy and advocacy work and join to together as one voice to advocate for needed policy change in Iowa.
- Location: Hilton Des Moines Downtown (435 Park St, Des Moines, IA 50309)
- Time:
- 2/09: 5:30-8:30pm: Training with dinner provided
- 2/10: 8am: Breakfast with training, followed by meetings with state lawmakers throughout the day.
Participants will:
- Gain an understanding of the priority breast cancer issues in Iowa.
- Meet with lawmakers to share their stories and the importance of the priority breast cancer issues.
- Expand their personal network of like-minded individuals in support of a common goal of ensuring access to high-quality, affordable breast health care for all.

- Accelerate Research, as it is the driving force of advances in diagnosing and treating breast cancer and supporting increased access to clinical trials for all patient populations;
- Ensure Access to affordable and high-quality care for all patients, understanding that everyone must have equitable access to our health care system in order to reduce breast cancer mortality; and
- Alleviate Patient Burden through robust public policies that address both the financial toxicity of treating breast cancer and the systemic hurdles patients must overcome to access their care.
