As anglers, we recognize the importance of financially supporting trout stream habitat improvement in Wisconsin through the purchase of the Inland Trout Stamp every season.
The nominal fee has outsized benefits, funding the enhancement of 25 miles of stream and 1 spring pond every year on average. Beyond the benefits to trout, these projects provide clean water for our residents, flood resilience for our communities, and outdoor recreation opportunities that are fueling local economies and improving our quality of life in Wisconsin.
However, the costs for materials, labor, and equipment to perform these critical projects are outpacing the stamp fee which has remained stagnant over the last 20 years.
Legislation has recently been introduced (LRB 5804/1 and LRB 6426/1) that will provide a $6 inflation adjustment.
By adjusting the Inland Trout Stamp for inflation, we can continue to make the necessary investments to ensure future generations can enjoy the cold, clean water that is essential to the way of life for Wisconsinites.
Write to your legislators today to urge them to support a $6 Inland Trout Stamp inflation adjustment by co-sponsoring this legislation, or thank the authors, Rep. Duke Tucker and Sen. Rachael Cabral-Guevara, for their leadership on this issue.
