Fishing, hunting, and outdoor recreation are essential to the way of life for Michiganders. Our Great Lakes State offers world-class recreation opportunities that not only sustain us but also our economy, supporting an $11.2 billion industry and an estimated 171,000 jobs. 

However, the clean water, abundant fisheries, healthy wildlife, and quality outdoor access that we depend on require consistent conservation funding – and that funding is in jeopardy.

Protecting Michigan's outdoor heritage doesn't happen on its own — and it doesn't happen for free. State legislators need to hear that our outdoor recreation opportunities make our state great and are too important to put at risk. 

Passing House Bill 5093 will allow modernization of Michigan’s fishing license structure to help stabilize long-term conservation funding, protect outdoor access and opportunity for future generations, and ensure the State can continue delivering high quality management across all resource areas.
