On Sept. 23, The Nature Conservancy and power company Brookfield Renewable Partners announced an agreement that will begin the process of decommissioning and removing four dams on the lower Kennebec River in Maine. Trout Unlimited has long advocated for meaningful fish passage requirements at the dams, which block endangered Atlantic salmon and other important migratory fish species from reaching important upstream habitat.
