ACTION ALERT: Stop H.R.1 – Protect Medicaid and Mental Health Care!
The U.S. House of Representatives has passed H.R.1 – the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”, a sweeping budget bill that would devastate the mental health care system in America. This legislation includes massive cuts to Medicaid, a lifeline for millions of people living with mental illness.

If this bill becomes law:

  • 8.6 million people will lose Medicaid coverage, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
  • People on Medicaid will face higher out-of-pocket costs, forcing many to forgo essential care.
  • States will be forced to make painful decisions, likely resulting in worse benefits and more barriers for those who need help the most.
  • Hospitals—especially in rural areas—may close, further reducing access to lifesaving services.

Why This Matters:

Medicaid is the largest payer of mental health services in the U.S. Slashing this program means fewer people with mental illness will get the care they need, worsening outcomes for individuals, families, and communities nationwide.

The Senate vote is next—and your voice can make a difference. Take action now by contacting your senators and asking them to vote NO on H.R.1.
