Urge the UN Secretary-General to Help Secure Release of Hostages

On October 7, Hamas launched an unprecedented and horrific attack on the State of Israel, massacring over 1400 Israelis and taking 240 people hostage, including women, children, people with disabilities, and the elderly. The international community, including nation states and the United Nations, non-governmental organizations, faith leaders, and all people of goodwill, must universally and unequivocally call and work for the immediate release of all the hostages.

The UN Secretary-General plays a crucial role in times of conflict, serving as a spokesperson for the interests of people across the world and working to prevent conflicts from escalating. With the United Nations standing as a moral authority, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres must use his influence to advocate for release of all the hostages being held in Gaza.

Our daily Jewish prayers teach us about our responsibility to rescue hostages (Pidyon Shevuyim), and our commitment to ensuring the safe release of all being held hostage can help bring a swift end to the bloodshed of this war.

Urge Secretary-General António Guterres to work with the international community to demand the release of all hostages being held in Gaza.
