Tell Congress to Advance Health Care with Hyde Protections
Congress is urgently debating plans to reduce the cost of health insurance for many patients. But one of the issues is whether more taxpayer dollars could then be used to help pay for abortions. The Hyde Amendment is a law that has saved 30,000 babies’ lives per year for 50 years by preventing most federal taxpayer funding of abortion – but its protections do not automatically apply to everything. Please tell your members of Congress today to develop a health care plan that protects human dignity and fully applies the Hyde Amendment.  No one should go without needed access to health care, and taxpayer dollars should never be used to pay for elective abortions.  Read the bishops' letter to Congress here.
