On May 22, after a process that was mostly done in the middle of the night, the House Congressional Representatives voted to pass a reconciliation bill that would cut billions of dollars from the SNAP program, and strip millions of young people and families of the food assistance they count on to stay healthy and thrive. This reconciliation bill, which will now head to the Senate, would cut $300 billion from SNAP, shifting costs to Virginia and creating significant barriers for parents.
This isn't just a bad policy proposal—it's a direct threat to children's health, learning and well-being.
