Support the Get Justice-Involved Veterans BACK HOME Act (S. 4162 )
Too many veterans involved in the justice system are struggling with untreated PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and other service-connected conditions.  And too often, they leave incarceration without the care, benefits, or support needed to successfully reenter society. This gap increases the risk of recidivism, crisis, and homelessness.

Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) urges you to contact your Senators and support S. 4162, the Get Justice-Involved Veterans BACK HOME Act.

S. 4162 focuses on rehabilitation, treatment, and successful reentry by expanding VA mental health care for incarcerated veterans, improving coordination with correctional systems, and helping ensure benefits and services are in place upon release. The bill also helps prevent veteran homelessness. Without support at reentry, many justice-involved veterans are at high risk. Strengthening continuity of care and access to housing support can break that cycle before it begins.

Contact your Senators and urge them to support S. 4162 using the form on this page.  Tell them that rehabilitation, not neglect, is how we honor the service of our nation’s veterans.
