January 31 is the Great PTA Sign-Up Day  

Join us in kicking off the new year by encouraging your local PTAs to participate in our Great PTA Sign-Up Day on January 31, 2024! Our goal is to increase membership statewide by 5000 members in a single day…on January 31!  

Councils can help by…

  • Promoting the event by sharing the Facebook posts from our Washington State PTA page to your Council Facebook page in the weeks leading up to the Great PTA Sign-Up Day and sharing the countdown in your newsletters and communications.
  • Creating excitement for the event by setting a district-wide membership goal and highlighting local PTAs and their membership efforts.
  • Encouraging your local PTAs to use the following social media examples to customize their messaging to highlight the importance of membership.

During this week, WSPTA will send action alerts, focusing on the Top 5 issues to members who have signed up to help. Each Action Alert will provide easily customizable messages that the Action Alert system will automatically send to your legislators. It is easy to do and only takes a few minutes.

2024 Legislative Preview  

The Washington state legislative session kicked off on January 8, 2024, and will last for 60 days. Join WSPTA Legislative Consultant Marie Sullivan for a recorded overview of what to expect during the legislative session, including known session protocols and how to best engage with the 2024 legislature during this short session.  

Council Reflections Entries due to WSPTA by January 18

By now, council leaders should have received and assessed Reflections entries submitted by their local PTAs. The next step is to submit those entries, moving on to the statewide Reflections contest. Click here for the official WSPTA Reflections submission form. The due date for council submissions is January 18.

Individual State Awards - Nominate Someone Now

Help to recognize leaders for their work in statewide service, advocacy, and teaching (includes staff) by submitting a nomination! The all-in-one form for nominating leaders is now available on the WSPTA Application & Submission Portal and updated to make it easy and quick to apply. Visit the website for more information about all the state-level awards and past recipients.

Winners of the WSPTA Outstanding Service, Honorary Life Membership, Outstanding Advocate, Outstanding Student Advocate, Outstanding Educator, and Friend of Children awards will be announced at the 2024 Spring Conference. All eligible nominees will be recognized! Think about the people and groups doing great work for all the children in our state and nominate someone today. Nominations are now open until March 14, 2024
