Across the country, healthcare is at a tipping point. Soaring labor costs and devastating underpayments from Medicare and Medicaid have created a perfect storm, making it nearly impossible for physicians to continue delivering the care millions depend on. In 2023 alone, healthcare providers absorbed a staggering $130 billion in underpayments–losses that have been growing by double digits every year. This financial strain isn’t abstract – it means fewer physicians, longer wait times, and entire communities left without access to healthcare. 

Physicians are being forced into impossible decisions: stop accepting Medicare patients, close long-standing practices, or sell to larger entities just to survive. When adjusted for inflation, Medicare pay has dropped 33% over the past 24 years. Hundreds of U.S. counties already have no primary care physicians, and with a projected shortage of 86,000 physicians over the next decade, we cannot afford to wait any longer. The time to act is now.  

Congress needs to hear from us–and they do listen when we speak up. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and right now, healthcare is screaming for help.
