Massachusetts Bill S.3064, which includes the repeal of the Sunday hunting ban and archery reform, is currently in a conference committee. For those unfamiliar, a conference committee is a temporary panel of three Senators and three Representatives appointed to resolve differences when the House and Senate pass different versions of the same bill. This small group holds immense power; they negotiate behind closed doors to draft a final compromise bill that cannot be amended further before a final vote. 

This is why it is important for these committee members to hear from sportsmen reminding them of the importance of repealing the Sunday hunting ban and enacting archery reform.

The formal legislative session adjourns on July 31. We have just nine days to protect our outdoor heritage. Anti-hunting groups are lobbying hard to strip Sunday hunting and archery reform from the final bill and we must drown out their noise with the united voice of Massachusetts sportsmen and women.

Contact the conference committee members to protect Sunday hunting and archery reform in the final report of S.3064. 

Remind the committee members:

• Respect the Voice of Sportspeople: Thousands of Massachusetts sportsmen and women have already spoken up in favor of these common-sense reforms. The committee must respect that overwhelming support.
• Reject Anti-Hunting Lobbying: Do not allow radical anti-hunting groups to hijack a major legislative package behind closed doors at the very last minute.
• Deliver on Promised Reforms: S.3064 represents a carefully negotiated compromise. Stripping the hunting and archery language now would be a massive step backward for the state’s outdoor community.
• Hold the Line Before July 31: Lawmakers must reject any final conference report that deletes, weakens, or delays these critical pro-sportspeople provisions.
